Amazing subjects and pictures Dave.... once again my compliments.

I've tried every fs mode and must admit that Provia and Soft are my favourites. Especially when shooting in Soft mode, skin tones look marvellous and as far as colours are concerned... Soft gives a splendid starting point to adjust them to my liking. Hoewever, tweaking is hardly ever necessary. Grtz. Blanche

... Thanks. I think it just became my favourite fs mode ! Will try it again when there is some light.

We're getting the tail-end of some pretty dull weather here. Should clear up in the next few days.

Glad I shot my golf club stuff when I did !! Has not been a clear day since.

Everyone seems to be talking about Provia and Velvia. And thus forgetting about Soft. It really has some nice colors (like them better than the Provia colors) and like Blanche said, it leaves room for post-processing (more than Velvia which is already "punchy"). That's why my standard setting is Soft, just switching to the others when needed.

By the way: Nice pictures!

these are really nice images, the shots of the monks are really great-what is that drink the person has in the first image? i've never seen a drink served in a container like that before-really great stuff like always, thanks for posting these dave, i really enjoyed seeing them :-]

... Thanks. Here, Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, etc., is poured into a plastic bag containing ice. Makes it easy to carry around. This one would be a bottle of Mirinda poured into the bag.

I don't drink it myself as 'crushed' ice is usually not as clean as 'cubed' ice. I prefer to drink from a can.

... Thanks. I found these folk sitting outside my gallery when I came
back. They were a little reluctant to have a picture taken but I just
smiled a lot :

... Sometimes, when you point a camera at someone, they react like this.

Well, I've been taking people pix long enough to understand that, if they are smiling, there really is no great objection. What I do is show them the image. This breaks down any barriers and I then re-shoot for the image I'm after.

Try it.
