More E-x confirmation

In the car business, it takes 3-5 years to go from concept to production. I hope this is not true for the E3, or whatever they going to call it.

PS

... what concept model means. It might be soap, but that would be very pessimistic indeed if by now they have only come up with a physical layout. Even a concept car is fully functional (be it far from full scale mass production). Concept model could mean it's about ready, but they havn't finished setting up the production line in the factory.

It will be a relief when we actually know something. All this endless bull!

Cheers, Seth

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

I think John made it pretty clear in his article that he was just guessing "E-2" for want of the actual name.

(I actually worked for Rangefinder until recently, FWIW> )
My September issue of Rangefinder is here and John Rettie has this
to say at page 90:

"An Olympus official told us word from Japan was that the new 'E-2'
pro level camera would be shown under glass at Photokina."

That's good enough for me.

The only question I have is whether he's right about the E-2
instead of E-3.

That's because he owns three Olympus bodies. An E-1, an E-300 and an E-500.
I should have been more precise. I wonder if the Olympus people
used the name E-2 when talking to Rangefinder, or if Rettie, just
used that name for lack of more information. By the way, Rettie
seems unusual amongst photography journalists in that he does not
have the usual bias against Olympus.

By the way, Rangefinder Magazine is a controlled publication offering free subscriptions to qualified indiviuals.

To qualify, you simply have to be able to answer two questions:

What type of shooting do you do, and what is your job function.

The magazine is geared toward wedding and portrait shooters, but there is really something in there for every type of photographer, particularly those who earn or want to earn a living from photography. It's a monthly, a real class act, there is no other magazine like it, and I highly recommend it.

The subscription page is at

http://www.rangefindermag.com/index2.tml then click on "subscribe."

(And there are no gotchas or strings attached: I know because until fairly recently I was the circulation director there.)

Hi,

There are "strings and gotchas" for the rest of the world, Rangefinder is free for U.S. and Canada residents only.

Regards,

John
