... I saw these two monks from the corner of my eye and spun around to take the image. I'm sure I nearly broke the camera's zoom as I 'whacked' it out to get the image. This is at Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch at Ayuthaya, Thailand. There are three Chedi's and they soar into the sky dwarfing all who come to visit.

Breathtaking. I would have loved to live this moment, haha. Sure. What an impression you must have lived. It is knowing that this is the shot, THE shot... some miliseconds before you see or frame with your eyes. When the camera goes up, the fingers pressing and adjusting, then getting them into composition, focus... that all happens in less than a second.. and BAAAM.

Pure adrenaline of photography,... and then the shock, like waking up, somehow isolated from the world, because ... because you ARE IN YOUR SHOT, and still there.

I love that feeling.

Kind regards Dave,

Miguel

You've really captured the grandeur and scale of the setting. It's truly an amazing picture, and you did a great job for such a spontaneous zoom and shoot pic--perfect timing!

Take the scenic route! Life is too short to do otherwise.

did you not do some USM/sharpening? If not, I need new glasses (again). ;-)

... My typical 828 settings (in fact all my Sony's) is to have sharpening, saturation and contrast all set to low and shoot in 'Real' colour mode.

Once upon a time, I used to use USM religiously then, one day, I thought why am I doing this ? Since then I rarely sharpen a Sony image. With the Zeiss lens they really don't need it.

Also, with the amount of DOF they have there is usually an apparent sharpness which cannot be replicated with a changeable lens camera.

I would doubt I have applied any sharpening to this image. The big issue with this image was noise and sharpening would only exacerbate that.
