** Mini Challenge #773 ** Post-Processing

I am not sure how closely this matches the theme, but anyway here goes.

I took this photo.

And ran it through the GIMP post processing software using the kaleidoscope filter

and got this result:

I started with this one:

And I straightened it, cloned out the cars in the foreground and cropped it slightly and brought up the shadows a touch.

The beautiful Budapest parliament building.

I used FastStone Image Viewer for the modifications. (Another free program)

:-) Sure makes for an interesting image, Jerry.

Those changes certainly improved the image.

Very interesting theme!!

I just came back from Tromso (northern Norway). Although I usually only do raw I thought for this (for me) unique trip I will do raw+jpg and transfer the jpg's from my RX10iv to my Samsung phone. This has the advantage that they are saved in the Google Photo cloud, thus providing me with a back up when something happens to the camera or the card (never happend before, but you never know, changes from low to high temperatures, etc).

So for your MC I have both the jpg SOOC and processed in DxO PL8. In PL8 I used my personal default setting except for noise reduction I used DeepPrime XD2s. I think the difference in convincing; have a look

Btw, although Covid supposed to be low (wastewater measurements) both in the US (see https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#wastewater-surveillance) and Europe I returned with Covid:-( .I am quite sure I picked it up on a bus trip last week where people to the left, to the right, in front and behind me were coughing and sneezing. I did not wear a face mask (how stupid of me!). Anyway I am already feeling better! Lesson learned: although chances are low, they are mot zero!!

Very interesting progression to a much better image. Thanks for participating, Ab; and for taking your time to explain your process!

Yeah, COVID stinks. Fortunately, it is not as bad as early on. We've been through it three times now. The first time, Nancy very nearly died and spent a couple of weeks in the hospital with double pneumonia. The second time we were on a trip to Vermont and became very sick, but not deadly sick. The third time, we were home and it was like a bad flu.

Seems like something we are just going to need to live with. I don't see how you can avoid catching it unless you are a hermit. Fortunately, it is rare we are around big crowds or in cities. I will wear a mask to protect others if I am sick, but not otherwise - I'll just take my chances.

Hoping for a quick recovery for you!!

It’s about impossible not to pass it to your spouse, sadly.

I had to remove the wire in pieces for the best result. Btw, I left the shadow of the wire..

Ha! I once did that - removed the street signs from an image of our bikes at an arch over the road in Red Canyon, UT - BUT forgot to remove the shadows of the signs. Really dumb! Then, I gave up and just used the OOC image, signs and all. :-)

exhibition

This is Bill Borne's 40 shot Panorama,

a combo of 8 shots wide, 5 exposures of each shot, his HDR processing and merging skills which I had the opportunity to see him perform on photos both he and I took on hikes to shoot Waterfalls. He captures and blends actual skies, they are not imported.

People miss him, I sure do, he could be very generous with his help, sharing photography skills, equally crabby and funny, we were visiting the Willard Chapel in Auburn, NY in 2021, in preparation for the eventual memorial service for my mother's memorial service there this past August, he muttered something that cracked me up

I also met Tom Cass here, he lives in Syracuse, NY; Bill in Vestal, NY, we got together twice with Bill. this was the 1st time,
