***Mini-Challenge #183 - More Than Two

Nice Glyn.
I feel I should know where number one is, but cannot get
the road sign big enough.
Like those spiffy dancers, Come Dancing?
And the last one is quite funny.

Thank you Jerry for taking on this challenge, I replied to the last challenge about looking in the wrong place and missing the results in the forum page. This challenge, as well, looks like it will be a great deal of fun. You had a unique shot of the moon in the last challenge, congratulations. I will have to fix my preferences on my page.

I love the angle composition on these young Japanese? girls, and they're all so pretty... The alternating sequence of boy/girl and alternating uniforms is also the type of pattern I was thinking of... Breaking a pattern with one element out of synch also works to make a photo interesting, which is the case with the four girls in pink dresses. Wonderful entries!

on the pool ball shot, Tabrizi. I like the sweets shot, too. I think I remember this one from a few years back, and it still looks delicious. Good work!

Hi Trafford

For the first one, I was standing on Barnes Bridge, west of London, llooking east toward the city.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=barnes+bridge&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=barnes+bridge&hnear=England&ei=ShWeS_vIM93NjAeS3dDGCA&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&resnum=4&ved=0CB0QtgMwAw

The people in the second one were friends whom I was competing against ... however, this event was only open to the younger competitors, so I was busy with my camera.

All the best

Hi Tabrizi

Firstly ... a late Happy new year! .. Been a long time since we've said hello ... my health has been all over the place and I have had to pull my cloak tight.

Secondly ... well .. looks to me like you have got over the 'hurdle' you were talking about last year ... specially in your first picture, the 'Tabrizi Eye' has been amstering the use of depth of field with those SLR Lens ... Remember that H series picture you did of that shoe on the carpet ... I think YOU were on the floor with your camera ... I'm just seeing in my mind's eye how yuo would ahve done that with this camera.

Take care

Hi Hutch

I'm thinking back to that wedding, and it's obvious you were active ... you weren't just Recording memories ... you were Creating them. With peopel who already love you. Have they put them in albums etc? Have they got any more events to grab you to do photos for?

Take care

Hi Trafford

I very much like where you chose to stand for the first one .. very much.

Gotta love that little girl Grinning at the camera whilst everyone else ie either concentrating on what they are doing or like that little boy ... 'hooded' in his expression as he looks at the camera.

That Highland Games is truly eclectic ... different Tartans and different flags. Where was it actually being held, Trafford?

Very best wishes

Hi Marti

I like this one a lot .. it's a picture after my own heart. The way the three main characters strengthen each other ... foreground and backgound in matching profile and midground full-on ... they kind of lock each other together to become one entity and mygod, that skin tone and light modeling you got on the face of the central man. WOW.

Take care

Hi Diane

I like the form and structure in all of them .. very strong

Number three 'hits' the back of my eyeballs, because the structure kind of 'Becomes' the picture as well as being part of it. I love the tones too.

Best wishes

Hi Danielle

Number one ... I think I'd have correctly guessed that you did this one if tested. i've always loved the power of woodfrain and texture and definitleya ppreciate it in your work.

Number three is, to me, kind of timeless ... makes me nostalgic for times I don't think I've even lived!

Best wishes

Hi

Yes .. the way the forum works has changed quite a lot over the last few months.

I solved it by navigating to this psecific Sony Talk Forum and making it a 'Favourite' ... so's to control preferences from the internet browser.

Glad you found us ... and look forward to seeing your entries in this one, if you want to enter ... I liked your winning entry in the last one.

Best wishes

because that waterwheel shot is an excellent image. I was wishing there were three of them, so it could stay in contention. The other two images qualify nicely and are excellent as well. Quite the find on those mushrooms. I like the mysterious setting here, and excellent use of DOF separation. Good job on the death wheel shot, too. Looks very dangerous and it must have taken some doing to get such little motion blur - just enough to suggest movement, but not enough to obliterate the detail.
