Methods for attaching field monitor to gimbal?

I want to mount a monitor to the base of a gimbal, as mounting it to the camera hotshoe will add a lot of unecessary weight that the gimbal has to counter.

Thing is, I'm not sure what options are available for this. What I have in mind is something that goes into the base tripod mount hole of the monitor, and also goes into the tripod mount hole at the bottom of the gimbal. So far I haven't seen items that do this.

Is anyone able to advise?

What gimbal are you using?

SmallRig makes gimbal handles with attachment points for some gimbals.

To use a field monitor with a gimbal is a bit like driving a car while composing text on a phone.

Shoot wide angle. Then key-fame and crop in post.

Or use a wide-angle Go-Pro type, or maybe Insta-360 camera. This would free you from any worries about tracking or framing. The digital gyro-stabilization is far better than what you can obtain from any gimbal. You obtain vast freedom to frame and compose in post. If, using this approach, you shoot in 5.7k, then re-frame in 1080p, the net result is tolerable.

This will most likely increase the weight of your gear significantly, but maybe something like this SHOULD work:

I use one with my Weebill S gimbal.

The handle screws into the bottom of the gimbal handle, then the tripod screws into the bottom of this handle.

The centre photo in the JPEG below shows my Crane 2 with an add-on grip that has the facility to attach any suitable third party kit to the top. Sometimes I use that to put a microphone on it. You should be able to find suitable grips like that. They would usually have 1/4"x20 / 3/8" sockets etc anyway. You can see I've added the extra grip then a Manfrotto quick release plate and base so that the mini-tripod can be used quickly.

Extra grips make it much easier to handle a gimbal so I would never be without one regardless.

But as said by others adding a monitor to a gimbal has serious downsides.
