Hi. I'm having problems with the light Metering dial on my XT-3 (nr 19 on this picture https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t3/about_this_camera/parts/index.html).

When I change the light metering mode nothing happens. The LCD display always show average mode "[ ]", and the actual light metering doesn't change.
  • Firmware 5.11 (latest version).
  • Camera is reset to factory settings.
  • The ISO dial is set to Auto.
  • The Shutter speed dial is set to Auto.
  • Exposure compensation dial is set to 0.
  • FACE/EYE detection is off according to “The selected option will only take effect when GAF/MF SETTING > FACE/EYE DETECTION SETTING is FACE OFF/EYE OFF.” (https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t3/taking_photo/photometry/index.html)
Is there another setting that possibly could cause this issue? Or is the camera/light metering simply broken?

Any advice/thoughts/ideas highly appreciated.

A shot in the dark: Check that the Drive Dial is not set to Advanced Filter or Panorama. Hope that helps….

Unfortunately it sounds like the top plate or ribbon cable to the top plate has failed. It's a common XT-3 failure as we use the dials so much.
