Merrill rust

Here's one shot at f11 . . . just for you Ted.

;)

Vivid color mode, f11, +.3 Fill Light, exported at quality 11 to sRGB jpeg (processed in SPP 6.4.0)

I focused on the corner of the label on the top, which was closest to the camera. I figured that would put the bolts on each side in focus, and it's a little closer to the camera than those bolts, so I figured more rust would be in focus. It seems to have worked out pretty well, and like you said Ted, the extra detail because of better focus seems to make up for any loss of detail from diffraction caused by the small f11 aperture.

Much better. A shot to be proud of.

Thanks Ted. Now I just need a beautiful girl in a pink bikini rather than a rusty old sewer device painted pink (or purple . . . or whatever that color is), and I'll be set.

Here's one from today . . .

I'll refrain from telling you what you're looking at. ;)

. . . and another . . .

Seaside Rust
Seaside Rust

Don't ask me what that creature is. I have no idea.

Sorry if it looks blurred. It is. I had to hold the tripod (wishing I had wi-fi in the camera) and estimate the focus and camera distance from the subject (no framing either, of course). Next time I need to take a ladder . . . but I was walking miles.

. . . and another . . .

Diamond Plate
Diamond Plate

A different kind of diamond plate.

I love my macro lens.
