macro lens

I read many posts when I was deciding on a macro lens. The Tamron
seemed to win out over all the others, even the Nikkors. It is the
only non-nikon lens I have. I like it so much I may consider
getting the new 90Di when it comes out. I really like the distance
the 180 allows me, like for this bug photo I shot today.

Make sure you have a good tripod.

well ..sigma is a good lens. tooo i am sure of that. just that different people have different opinions.

The colors are great and thats an exception price for such a lens.

The image you posted though does look pretty soft, though some of this could be down to camera shake or focusing.

Thanks for bringing this lens to my attention.

I bought it from Man Shing, Mongkok in Hong Kong at HK$5250. This lens is rather rare in Hong Kong. Not too many shops selling it.

One question .. can the 1.4x & 2.0x teleconverter be used for both the sigma 180mm macro lenses and the 123-300mm f2.8 zoom lenses , if it is , can help me save tons of cash ...

thanks

sorry my statement wasnt clear , what i meant is are both the lenses using the same type of teleconverters.

thanks

simple, macros are best shot in manual focus. the sigma's the same. most people shoot macros in manual focus, as do i. the margins are too small for autofocus to be of use.
Those aren't my shots... i just posted the link to all the
galleries on PBASE using the lens.

Guys ...I have just bought the tamron 180mm macro. So excited. I
have yet to take any shots but it seems to hunt a lot.

Is this normal ?
