I'm inspired by the "105 yesterday and today" thread, and would like to see folks' macro images, if you'd be willing to share. I think all the time about picking up a macro lens, and would like to see what folks are shooting in macro to get inspired.

I know it's not really the same as true macro, but I like to shoot small details with my 24-120 f4 set to the long end; at MFD, you can really get very close to small objects and see them in lots of detail.

Photos taken with the 50 2.8 MC and 105 MC are especially welcome.

You could maybe add the Raynox 250 to your lens to get turbo charged on the cheap. Here's a small shield bug taken this week on my Z50, 50-250 and Raynox, stacked in Helicon. Natural light and hand focused.

Wow! I didn't realize how iridescent bugs are up close. Lovely images.

Very cool. I had no idea this product existed.

Here’s one shot with my Z 50/1.2S and extension tubes (I forget if I used 16mm or 26mm of extension).

Odd, but true. I basically never pick up the 105z unless I'm taking it on a scuba dive. Roatan 2023.

one day I need to have a 105mm z, i'm sorry it is not that ... i went with the laowa (no connection or recommendation implied).
all these below are handheld with flash @f/11 with the laowa 100mm f/2.8 x2:1 ... the ability to maintain infinite focus and the greater magnification (x2:1) of this lens was the tempting decision... anyway

That poor bee. :(

What a lovely set of images. Thanks for sharing.

These are so cool! Do you find yourself having to do a lot of post work for underwater photos to correct the colors? I've never shot underwater before. I really like your choices of subject and, if relevant, your editing style.

Very cool! How did you light this? I can't really tell what I'm looking at but it's very visually striking (and obviously the logo/engraving looks top-notch).

That's funny, I'm running a macro mini challenge over in the Sony Cyber-shot Talk sub forum.

It's a different world up-close. :-) That's the fun part of macro photography. You get home, look at the photos zoomed in and realize there are things there that you didn't even see with your eyes!

Great idea for a thread, thank you.

I have the 105 MC but have not used it much lately and was looking for inspiration myself. Great examples have been posted so far, I appreciate seeing these!

Thanks, that's my wedding ring (replacement for a broken one). I created a kaleidoscope using three of my lights, a small mirror, and a tiny piece of double sided tape to keep the ring from flopping over or moving around.

I believe the 24-120 works well with extension tubes, which allow you to focus closer (but you likely lose infinity focus while using them.)

I have the 105MC at work, but have nothing to share from that. All the same, it is impressive what it can do.

From when I was just getting some test shots with my Z 105 MC. It is an impressive macro lens and handheld results are surprisingly good. This shot was handheld.

I have just bought one, and I am getting to grips with Macro. I find focus stacking very useful, even if it takes a lot patience outdoors. It is very hit and miss, but when you get good results, it is worth it.

These were taken in the Apennines foothills, above Reggio Emilia, in Italy.

Can’t remember which lenses I used for these. Either the Tokina 100mm 2.8, Laowa 100mm 2x 2.8, or Laowa 4-4.5x 20mm.

All are excellent, and available cheaply now.

All handheld with the 200mm F4 Micro and Z6. really like this lens on the Z cameras as IBIS and focus peaking make it a much better experience than on any DSLR
