Here's what I'm hoping for:

• Keep it lightweight (under 500 grams)
• I never use an EVF so am happy to have that left off if it lets you make a smaller, tighter package
• Decent zoom range 25-150/200 (equiv) would be ideal
• Reasonably bright lens, say 2.8-4 across the zoom range
• DFD for better continuous autofocus

I expect you'll get everything on your list except the zoom range, which would require the lens to be too big. More like 24-105.

I'd prefer a smaller zoom range, say 24-90, if that makes room for the inclusion of an EVF.

If lens, size, and price are orherwise comparable to the G1X II, the modern 4/3 sensor will make this an easy win for Panasonic. Add DFD, and this will be one very awesome camera!

Yeah, I know a lot of people feel that way, I just feel differently. To each their own.

Yeah, if it can mimic my LX5 while corralling size and adding an EVF, then it will be an ideal compact. Confess I don't know how that's possible with a 4X sensor.
