LX100 alternative?

I have an LX100 which I really love, but my daughter is slowly taking possession of it

I'm considering getting another one while they are still available, but I wonder if it would be better to get another model. It would be nice to see the LX200 appear but that could take forever... The only thing I'm missing in the LX100 is a bit more zoom range. I don't mind the not-so-pocketable size. Any suggestions, or should I just stay with the LX100? I'm not interested in small sensor cameras by the way...

I considered the LX100 for a time then decided to stick with my LX7: most of my shots are posted on the web and my small-sensor camera is plenty good for that.

One thing to consider is the low-light capability.Your camera is very good at that.

I've been looking around too (and looking, and looking), but I find no reasonable substitute.

1. A close contender for me is an Oly E-M10 III with my Pana 12-35 f:2.8 lens. It would be a nice, capable alternative, but the body alone is already heavier than the LX100.And that lens is neither small nor light nor real fast.
2. The Fuji X100F is a great camera with a bright lens and crop alternatives to 50mm and 70mm equiv. But 35mm is as wide as it gets. It's also rather pricey.
3. The Canon candidates don't make the final cut. And I'm very reluctant to mess with UI hell with one of the Sony models.

The heyday of compact cameras is fading. I think I'm waiting for the LX200, keeping amused in the meanwhile with LX100 plus Ricoh GR. And the Fuji for Sundays.

I like the GX-85 which costs about the same. You might find the two lens kit for less than $600. I used to own the LX-100 and I will never look back!

Yes, had an X100 and X100s for a long time, loved them, but wanted 4k and more versatility. If you want a prime lens attached to a body, this is the one to go for...X100F, but that's not what the OP is wanting.

Yep. Canon is just out of touch. No 4k, poor performance (esp. AF) and the lenses are super slow in general. Now, I do have two Sony's. RX10 M2 and RX100 M3. You get used to the menu system. However, there are other UI things I struggle with...especially not being able to update firmware on a Mac for the RX10 M2 (you have to install an app on the computer to update it and it will only run up to OS X 10.11).

Maybe, maybe fading....for the tiny ones. I would love an LX200 . Not hopeful at this point. I hope I am surprised!

I have a Dlux 109 and recently got a refurbished Canon G5x to try out. The G5x seems to be a decent little camera. Still images are decent and the lens goes to 100mm equiv. I don't shoot much video but the 1080p looks good enough for my needs. If you don't need 4k video it is worth a look.

If lack of zoom is the issue you can give it a chance to the LX100 extended zoom features.

When Extended/iZoom /Digital zoom modes are enable the LX100 can reach up to 600mm Zoom equivalent. I know, i know the quality wont be as good as optical zoom but even at that range the image is like 1.5 Megapixels worth of resolution which is still good enough for the web.

It also really helps that the optical image stabilization of the LX100 at 600mm is excellent!

I found the LX100 too big and heavy by comparison, so passed it on to a grandson.

I use a small shoulder bag to carry my LX7 with the EVF mounted. So it's easy to retrieve or replace. But I found that a ClearViewer was nearly as convenient for framing shots.

I have an LX100 and had a Canon G5X. I like them both. G5X has flip screen, built-in ND, longer zoom, more megapixels, dual control dials. I'd say ultimately the LX100 is capable of taking a little bit sharper pics.

Thanks for the replies. I loved the LX100 from the first day I started shooting with it. I don't like the jpgs that come out of it though, but shooting raw it is just an excellent camera. The direct controls are also a great thing.

Halfway 2017 I decided to move on and got me a Fujifilm X-E2S. While it's a great camera, it just didn't feel right to me, so I sold it again.

I'm also considering the FZ1000 right now as it can be had for about the same price as the LX100.
