my first attempt at doing two things:

1) Taking moon shots with my 30D and the far from ideal EF75-300 (f4-5.6).

2) Combining a series of images into one using photoshop.

The result is overall pleasing, though I think I could have done a slightly better job on focusing on some of the shots, but I can hardly go back and do them again now!!

They look great, love how you put them in order like that :)

The are superior shots than the ones I got using my new 70-300 IS. The earlier ones were ok 125/f8 200 iso but as it got darker the exposure increased even though I uped the ISO and put the camera on a tripod.I even managed to a movement in the moon with the length of exposure I was using

Another very interesting way to arrange eclipse shots is to line then up on a star. This removes the movment of the earth's rotation, and you can really see how the moon moves into (and out of) the earth's shadow.

To start with, I made sure that all shots to be used were taken at the same focal length so that they would appear sized the same on the final version.

All shots were in RAW, but I did not do any pp to the individual images as I wanted to make sure the clours were 'as seen'.

I then simply used 'quick selection' tool in CS3 (Beta) to select the outline of each moon and then used the 'move' tool to drag each on onto the first image, created a new layer. This allowed me to select each idividual moon layer so that I could arrange them, best as I could, in a perfect line diagonaly.

The whole 8 layers were then flattened and a slight bit of USM applied, then the border and text added as a final step.

Thank you to everyone for their kind comments so far. They are all gratefuly appreciated.

Just the lowly 75-300 f4-5.6 USM.

admitedly, the moon in each shot was not massive....but then each moon was cut and pasted into one master, then the master was downsized to the res posted here.

I really really do wish that I had checked each shot in turn, as some of them are exhibiting OOF and/or movement blur. But it is too late now :(
