Lumix G1 dark pictures in manual setting problem - plz help...

With adapters for legacy lenses auto-mode does not work. With some adapters A mode can be used. I've never used M mode with my Panasonic lenses as the camera focuses accurately and quickly.

Shenryo, have you tried setting your ISO to Auto and "off" (so that you are not limiting the ISO.).

Then shooting in manual with the f stop and shutter speed of your choice should make your ISO in balance with your chosen settings. Forgive me if you've already tried this.

I have just tried this and I can confirm they are pretty much the same, give or take a fraction :........

So they are working fine.

For the images that are not working how are you judging what to set your ISO, shutter and aperture?

Been following this and everybody has a theory! When you take a picture in M mode, is the Metadata/ EXIF that shows on your editor the same as you actually used? I've just gone thru the camera menus and , while I learned a few things, nothing jumps out. By the way, you are using a kit lense or one that is fully compatible, right?

Your pictures are showing, there's one with the flash and iA and the other two are I assume the same scene in manual mode?

According to the EXIF you didn't fire the flash for the second and third shots which is why they are so massively underexposed, to be able to use that shutterspeed, ISO and aperture you'd need to be shooting outside in good daylight.

When I read this topic I shot outside in daylight, to get a reasonable exposure at 1/1000 second I needed ISO 400 and F4 (widest the lens would do) and that's in far better light.

Looking at the exif data your shots are way under exposed, your shutter speed is 1/1000 @ F3.5 in a room i guess is lit by a light bulb, in those conditions i would guess your shutter speed should be about 1/20 - 1/40.

Do this test.

Take a pic using P mode, check what shutter speed and F number the camera used, now go to Manual mode and put the same shutter and F number into the settings and take the same pic, check the two exposers and let us know how that works out.

Hi folks,

It would appear that I have simply been slightly confused with my new hobby. I think I have simply asked too much from the camera and the environment I have experimented with.

Sorry! :( (blushes)

Thank you all for your help and advice though. I wont hesitate to seek your advice again :p

Cheers
