I shoot with Fuji's X line in raw. In LR Classic, the raw files will hold their embedded preview image with all the film simulation characteristics until I switch to Develop, at which point the preview image is naturally lost.

Is there a way to recover that preview when I switch back to the Library module? I can't seem to figure it out, and selecting Reset in Develop doesn't accomplish it.

I don't think there is a way to do that in Lightroom (it would be great if there was), but you can extract the embedded jpeg (and other things) here...

But I believe Fujifilm X Raw Studio will develop raw files using the film simulations just as the camera does internally.

I don't think Adobe is attempting to replicate what every camera manufacture does internally with their cameras' film simulations, picture controls, etc.

With my Nikon Cameras, if I want to develop a raw to look like a jpeg like the camera would produce based on the selected Picture Control, I use Nikon NX Studio. I can choose to apply a different picture control. I then do anything that requires layers with another editor.

RawPreviewExtractor is worth a try. It's free I believe and comes from the FastRawViewer stable. You can batch process all files in a folder if you wish. Run this before loading to Lightroom then load jpegs into LR as well as the raw files.

Remove the image from LrC and reimport it?

Maybe not what you want, but Lightroom does offer Fuji film simulations under the “Adobe Color” dropdown menu (click on “Browse” and scroll down). I’m guessing these are Adobe’s approximations of Fuji’s in-camera profiles, but they are sticky to the file in preview.
