I’m looking for D7100 users who shoot/shot raw to try out a DNG camera profile I’ve built. The profile is built from scratch using spectral data, not using any other profiling software.
Very briefly, I’m a former D7100 owner (still regret selling it!) who has been shooting for 20 years and also worked extensively in printing and colour management. I developed a model for estimating the spectral response of a digital camera as part of a science research project, and then realised along the way that I can use it for building camera profiles.
Compared to the Adobe Color profile in Lightroom/Photoshop:
If you’re interested, just let me know and I’ll send you a Dropbox link.

Compared to the Adobe Color profile in Lightroom/Photoshop:
- The profile has a gentler contrast curve, showing more detail in highlights (eg clouds, hair etc) and shadows.
- Colours are more accurate. For example, purple flowers are purple, not blue, and red earth/rocks stay red, not yellowish.
- Consistent hue. No changing of colour (hue specifically) in transition from light to dark. This really helps skin tones (and everything else).
- Neutral shadows, they lose the red cast often present with Adobe.
- Overall richer, more lifelike colour.
