Logical and economical storage of image archive

I use Windows 8 Pro, install packages extracted from Windows Server 2012 called Data Deduplication:

After deduped, tested on one of my RAW X3F files 154GB folder becomes only 24.7GB size on disk. Really amazing way to save cost of data storage.

Well, after previously talking about how it is possible to back up stuff with old PCs...

Last night I was in Best Buy. For $179 I got a 3TB Seagate goflex home. It is network attached storage. You plug it into your router. It will back up all your PCs and Macs. You can also access files remotely. And via iphone.

The backup software seems to be in the cloud, which is a little distracting, but the backup is just a copy of the files and folders, so you can navigate it normally.

It's a nifty device. It appears to simply be a sata dock. I don't see why one can't plug any sata drive into it -- though I haven't tried that. Need to back up all the PCs first.
