Lightroom & Capture NX

Jason:

One of the reasons I'm asking all these questions here is that I want to use Capture NX for my raw edits, as I find the step adjustments and of course the UPoint technology infinitely more user friendly than Photoshop. I have your Ebook, BTW, and would be interested in knowing your workflow, with PM and NX. As I understand PM, it allows you to set an external editor application, which could be NX. As you browse photos, you can open NX, go through adjustment steps, UPpoints, etc. and save the NEF and PM will update its thumbnails with the edited NEF, so you will see a thumb with the edits. For example, if you were browsing in PM, you find a shot that you want to edit in NX, to black and white, you do those edits, save the NEF (now a B&W) and the thumb in PM will show the B&W image. Am I correct in this?

While I know I can download a 21 day demo of PM, I trying to figure this out before doing that, as life can get in the way of my photography and 21 days could be gone, in my world, before I get a chance to check it out.

Thanks for any info. BTW, your Ebook has been very valuable for learning NX. I was dying for more on NX at the Denver Nikon School, day 2, with Reed and Bill. I had already purchased your book, when you were handing out coupons.

I personally use Photo Mechanic and I haven't come across a better
browser; especially one that is more "NX Friendly".

The latest version of PM also now incorporates the Adobe Bridge
"star ratings", so if you use PM to rank your images, Bridge will
retain the information, provided you tell PM to use sidecar (XMP)
files.

We are very flexible with our demo policy. While our server won't continuously give out repeat demo codes, if you call us directly and explain your situation, we will give you another month to decide.

You can do this by emailing [email protected] or by calling us directly at 503-531-8430.

Kind regards,
