Any suggestions for a beginner wanting to start photographing lightning. I have a Nikon D850 and I have both a 24-70 2.8 lens and a wide angle 14-24 2.8 as well. I’ve heard some about lightning triggers but wanted thoughts. And if so, which one would you recommend and why. And other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Second part of this-what recommendation for ND filters for daytime lightning

I’ve read good things about the MIOPS triggers but have never used them

As to ND filters, my preferred one are made by Breakthrough. I like the optical, build quality, and easy to grasp knurled edges. The 14-24mm f/2.8 is a great lens but filtering it is an expensive proposition.

You might find this link to that company’s guide to when to use which ND filters when useful: https://breakthrough.photography/pages/nd-buying-guide
