MP3 player ? Hhhhmmm, that means Sony allowed them to copy music too, it has a built-in copy-protection in short. In other words ... its Magic Gate compatible too! Thanks for the info. Bill, just what I needed to know.

Hmmm. I guess I would buy them too if I were sure they fit in the DSC-F505V. Do the dimensions/specs look similar to the following specs for the 32MB memory stick from the Sony web site (i.e., the size and shape of a stick of gum)?

Memory Type: Flash memory (MSA-32A: 32MB)

Interface: Serial
Operating Voltage: 2.7V to 3.6V

Operating Environment: 0°C - 60°C (non-condensing)
Dimensions (LxWxH): Approx. 21.5 x 50 x 2.8mm

Thanks in advance!

It is completely compatible (it is a Memory Stick - not a Smart Media). It is physically identical to a Memory Stick (I have two Lexar sticks - rec'd today from Tech Store).

The box labels it as "Lexar Media High Performance" and "Memory Stick".

The box also says "100% Compatibility Guaranteed, Plus 5-Year Warranty". Below that is says "...100% compatible with digital cameras that use Memory Stick". It also indicates it is not compatible with music devices that require security encryption support which presumably means it is NOT MagicGate compatible.

I don't have any regular memory sticks to compare against and I'm using it in an MSAC-FD2M floppy adapter in a FD-95 and I think the FD2M has more limitation than the actual memory stick so I can't tell you if it is really 4-8 times as fast as Sony media. It did format in my computer in just a few seconds, though (I'm using 32MB sticks).
I went to the Lexar Media web site, but could find no reference to a
memory stick. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong place.

Is this product the same as the SmartMedia flash memory card?

Their "compatibility matrix" doesn't list the DSC-F505, so I kinda wonder
about that.
