Let's Get Louis to Return

I think there may be a misconception that I am a newbie.

Ive been on DPReview forums a number of years. I just recently started using my own name and have been capturing images since.........well........roughly 1960. Made some fair money with it over the last 15 years too.

I am also not very young.

we need to respect the man's choice to be absent, for all the reasons already well discussed. It is clear there is much affection for him and a degree of puzzlement surrounding his abstinence from participating.

A return to matters photographic would be a pleasant change, no?

Age doesn't matter. We tend to do silly and childish things from time to time....:-))

Sorry to read that Louis ("l_objectif") has left this forum – hopefully only temporarily. There is a "Louis2" in the LUF, apparently his new heimat, and he has already met some old acquaintances there.

I think he was wrong in leaving this forum, and he will be sorry for that and will become a "Louis1" again. He always appeared to me as an excellent and productive photographer, but not as a Leica devotee in the sense that he loved a rangefinder above all or that he lusted for the latest Leica lenses. To the contrary, I reckon he bought the Leica models (and not the Panasonic ones) because he was a stalwart of this forum and liked his photos to be warmly accepted here. So I assume he wood be in better hands in this forum which has always been liberal, i.e. mainly for Leica users but also, to a certain extent, for others, with the focus on photography. That there are occasional disagreements among the members or in relation to the operators of this site is quite natural, but on the whole this is a likable and open-minded place, and many a cause for indignation turned out to be a storm in a teacup. Hasn't Simon's latest post calmed the waves in a satisfying manner? Maybe then, when the time has come that Louis feels confined in a cage, he will come back to this open place – warmly welcomed, of course.
