Let's Get Louis to Return

In the spirt of the New Year let's attempt to convince Louis to return to the forum. Have a creative 2014.

My Best Regards,

Leo33 (Emil)
i think that considering the reason he left this forum, i very much doubt he could be reasoned to come back.

i miss his shots and the fiendship he has shown me, but luckily i have his email so can keep in touch.

i do think the forum is a much poorer place without him here amongst us, and his reason for leaving was his own reason, but if anyone can talk him round, i for one would be very happy.

in the 10 month or so i have been on this forum we have lost hugues, perfectibles, olivier, and now louis, probably four of he finest we had on here, it certainly doesnt feel like it once did all those months ago, god knows how the long termers are feeling.

anyway, a happy new year to all the survivors.

very best

Emil, I think Paul has put that very well, I'll let him speak for me too on this.

Very best

you would have to ask him that yourself michael, i couldnt possibly say, they were his reasons, not mine.

although, im sure the loss of some very good and inspirational photographers may have had at least a minor input into his decision.

Hi there Emil,

really I don't get it: one week ago Louis told us, in his very last post here, he was in the middle of his holiday and that it could take a while. No word of leaving us.

So what has happened ?

All the very best.

I agree with Bart. I guess he's still having his Christmas holidays and will be back soon.

Looking forward to seeing his great shots again!

Louis, I hope you spent a pleasant holiday with your family. Your friends would love to have you return to the forum. We miss your participation! Please reconsider your decision to leave. :(

My Best,

Emil

Louis,
Many of us young whippersnappers have much to learn from you, your mentoring, your comments, and humor.

You are missed

Wayne
Wayne, thanks for letting Louis know how much you and other forum members miss his mentoring. Hopefully we can convince him that his expertise is missed dearly. :)

My Best,

Emil

Louis,

Please come back or I'll have to smash my camera.

We miss you.

A ltlle wild, yes ?

Whatever works.

the culture of this forum has taken a turn and not for the better, IMHO

we have had many changes of the years that I have been a contributor, but I think the last few months have taken the forum down a path that Louis clearly tried to correct with his Rules post

if any of you have questions about why he left, just go back in the forum & take a look at it

his reasons for leaving were clearly delineated in this appeal to restore the culture of what was a wonderful forum

sad to say this, but I had long made the Leica forum my first visit after powering up my computer, but no longer

Art,

Very sorry to hear that you are not much here anymore. Louis' departure is a loss and I'm glad he's thriving on LUF. While I personally miss Louis, as I do the many others that don't frequent the forum anymore, I am glad to have maintained an off-forum friendship with many. I am also glad to have made many new friends and seen through many new eyes here. Folks like Thomas, DavidGBK, Kevin, Mark E, Yong (FTI), Kostas, Jim Laing, John Schick (who was her a long time ago), John Basso, Paul(Meagre), Tony (Reelacks), Michael, Wayne, RZ, and so many others that are relatively new to the forum and bring their own vision to the community here. I am also very happy that many of the older folks like Mike, Gianluca, Paul(20), Bart, Ece, Tibor, and you, Art, still stop by every now and then.

All things must change - that is the order of the the Universe, and to expect things to remain the same is perhaps folly, respectfully. I, for one, am still glad that this is the most civil forum @ Dpreview. Also glad that it is a forum most focused on photography.

I do hope you reconsider and post here more often. I, for one, miss your macro images.

Warm Regards,

-raaj

Yes, he should ignore "the culture of the forum" and come back!

Sometimes, in order to affect change, one must be the spear carrier who is the point man. I don't see any changes in the forum that Louis wanted.
Sorry to ask, but who is Louis? And what is his DPR handle?

The reason I ask is because I would like to read his past threads to understand what changes he wanted in this forum.

Thank you.
