Hi,

It looks like i'm having an issue while using my 540 fgz flash wireless with the internal popup flash acting as a controler to trigger the 540 fgz.

If i'm using a big lens like the 16-50 f2.8, i can see the shadow of the lens caused by the internal flash. I tried both mode in the settings menu : "controler" or "master"

The external flash fires correctly but both flash seems to lighten the scene and I still see the shadow of the lens (even if it's less harsh than with only the internal one)

If i understood well the manual, if i use the internal flash as a controler (instead of master) it should only be user to trigger the main one (540 fgz) and not to light the scene ?

The problem is that in Controller mode, the built-in flash still fires (at a fixed-power) during the exposure, to sync the slave.

On older bodies, this "sync" flash was low enough as to be of little impact on the final pic.

But on both the K7 and K5, the built-in flash "sync" burst was upped to a much more powerful level (certainly to solve some sync problem in broad daylight, IMO), and it can be seen easily if you're using some fast lens/high ISO combination...

The answer is to use a Nikon SG-3IR flash screen, it works great!

Go to custom menu number 21 and set the built in flash during wireless to OFF. I checked it right now and saw no shadow from 16-50, but you should check it for yourself.
