K20D hot pixels when remote mode on

OK, I retested my K20D. I shot at 800 iso with the lens cap on, jpeg.

At single shoot, perfectly clean black pic. 100% perfect looking at high magnification.

Using the 2 sec timer, you can see very small white speckles throughout the pic when looking at high magnification. No question there is a difference and some issue with shooting using the 2 second timer position (and apparently the 3 sec remote as well?).

Hope Pentax issues a firmware update.

I just wanted to put my results in perspective. Even at high ISO at 2 sec, the pics look fine and I would not have seen the issue unless I really magnified the photo. So for those concerned, I would still recommend the K20D with enthusiasm!

I am not sure I'd do that - they appear to be from sensor "heat" or simialr, and not there when the 2 sec lock up isnt used...thus they shouldnt be mapped out - doing that enough times will give you a mapped out sensor ;-)

Have you tried the pixel mapping feature yet?

I'd do this before returning the body.

I did the same test and saw lost of little white specs to, but then I tried something different, I put the cam at F22 30 sec exposure and had some light and dark in the frame ( out of focus ) , after pixel peeping I found about 5 hot pixels but only with dark and light in the frame.
