K10 hands on review PART 1

What's the USB connect, standard Mini-B ? Something odd like the -istD or something else again ?

That was great, now I'm really sad that I have to wait till spring.
Oh well I will have to go out with my *ist D and take some more
pictures.

Les
I feel your pain. I won't have the coin for it until March at the earliest. Ah well... more time for 'others' to test out any bugs, and maybe a firmware update or two while we wait eh?

Huge thanks for this overview Steve! I was thinking of getting a
K100D, but some of your comments make me think the K10D is the one
for me - if I can afford it :(

I'm especially interested in your findings about the K10D's images
having more colour vibrancy and depth even than the K100D. When I
had a DL, I often found the images lacked something, maybe this is
it!

Were you shooting in Jpeg when you noticed the colour etc? I'm
wondering if this new PRIME engine means their will be less
difference between Raw and Jpeg. I never shot in Jpeg with my DL,
as it just wasn't as good as the Raw output IMO, kind of a
processed appearance.
It appears in both.

Great!

So, Pentax k10D is not just a "vapor ware".

I return the Nikon D80 for my money back after twelve days of frustrations.

The photos I took with less expensive Fuji, Lumix, and Olympus were more consistent and predictable.

Goodbye Nikon - Hello K10.

Someone suggested having a separate thread for Part I and Part II, great..

I hear the thunder of enthusiasm.

Thanks for your objective review.

Thanx for sharing your experiences extensively. Do you happen to know whether K10D is able to operate while no lens is on (I mean the body does not detect and cannot communicate with the lense, due to custom made adapters)

Sorry I have no idea. I assume it behaves as it does with Pentax M lenses.
