The battery on my 3-year-old Pixel 6 Pro isn't doing great these days, so I just ordered a OnePlus 12 to replace it.

The OnePlus 12 doesn't seem to get much attention on here, but from what I can tell it's a pretty great all-around phone with very capable camera performance. I especially like the performance of the 70mm telephoto camera and the macro performance from the telephoto and the UWA camera.

This review helped make up my mind since it has lots of full-size images:

I'll post my thoughts and some sample pics after I've had some time with the new phone. I'm also really looking forward to having a phone with an IR blaster again, lol.

You've already made your choice. All we have to do is wish you to enjoy it in good times. Although it does not attract much attention, it is a good enough device among current devices. If we evaluate the camera performance, it has a photo processing quality similar to the Find X7 Ultra. I saw a comparison of it with the S24U when it first came out, and with half the price tag, no one could say it was worse than the s24U. I also heard that it got better with some camera and system updates. In addition to all this, it is one of the few devices with a legendary screen and battery performance. Although the upcoming Pixel 9Pro XL has a very interesting camera setup, the price difference will compensate for this. You also have the opportunity to use the Pixel camera mod application on your Oneplus device.

Yeah, but I bought it from Best Buy, so I do have some time to try and return it if I don't like it for some reason.

The current sale price on the 512GB/16GB version I got is $799, which is already a great value for the hardware, but they had one open-box "Excellent" in stock for $650. It's supposed to be like new with all accessories, so I'm very happy with the price.

Battery performance was one of the big draws for me. My Pixel 6 Pro was only okay on battery life, even when new, and it hasn't aged well in that regard. From what I've been reading, 2-day battery life is possible with the OP 12, and it can get close to a full charge in like 30 minutes.

I don't know, maybe. According to Android Authority the 9 Pro/XL is supposed to use 1/2.51" sensors for UWA and telephoto. The OP 12 uses larger 1/2" sensors for those two cameras, and the sample photos seem to show the benefits of the larger sensors.

I'm also a little skeptical of Pixel phones at this point. My 6 Pro is sometimes quirky, and I feel like the "Tensor" chip puts it at a disadvantage in terms of performance, battery life, and heat.
You also have the opportunity to use the Pixel camera mod application on your Oneplus device.
I've used Gcam on some of my old phones, so I might try it out, but honestly I'm pretty happy with the samples I'm seeing from the 12.

I concur with this.

Enjoy your new phone.

I just came across a post with lots of full-size sample images on the OnePlus Community website. It's from self-described award winning wedding photographer "Mohan_G" who was appointed a "Sample Shot Expert" for the OnePlus 12:

https://community.oneplus.com/thread/1520880825304875014

He shares a bunch of images from each of the three camera modules. If you click on an image, it opens it up in a larger pop-out, and then if you right-click on that image you can get the full-size image.

I highly recommend checking out the full post, which also includes a lot of background on each of the images, but here's a few of his shots. These first two are from the main 23mm camera:

These next two are from the UWA camera:

And these last two are from the 3x/70mm telephoto:

And he also had some astro shots:

Obviously these images were taken by an extremely skilled photographer with beautiful subjects and locations, but that aside, the image quality looks fine to me. I'm really looking forward to playing with mine.

Good choice. Oneplus 12 has a solid camera, first thing first update the firmware to the latest version available. So many things have been fixed since release.

Gcam does improve photo camera, mainly Night Mode. Configs here https://t.me/Oneplus12Gcam

My go-to advice is always use both stock camera and gcam and plays to each's strength. With gcam you can customize the "look" easily how you wanted it to be.
