  1. Used DXO Photolab 9 to apply a light touch of Noise Reduction because I had the camera set to ISO 800 because of no VR and I am not as steady as I was 20 years ago. Lens used was my 105mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor D (pre VR).
  2. Then I opened the file in Airty Image Enhancer set for 2X linear upsize and 2 pass enhancement.
  3. Opened the file in Corel Paintshop Pro to lighten the image a bit along with a light touch in saturation and contrast. Could have done that at the start in DXO but was a bit too focused on doing the Noise Reduction and really didn't look at the image until after the upsize.
I did this out of plain old curiosity. I just wanted to see what could be done with a 6mp image out of a 22 year old digital camera. I think it turned out rather nice and does indicate that with editing tools available today we probably have as many Megapixels as we need today. Yes peep hard enough and there are artifacts. Below are 100% & 200% crops.

100% crop
100% crop

200% crop
200% crop

These do indicate this image will print quite well.

Nice shot. That's a blast from the past! I've got a D70 in a cupboard that has a busted flash, so never bothered to try and sell it. I might dig it out on a rainy day and play with it - thanks for the inspiration!

My first Nikon was a D70s.with 6mp....it took outstanding photos....you photos prove once again how good those old D70's are/were....the rubber on mine started getting 'sticky', so I sold it....replaced it with a D40 6mp....same great photos....

Thanks for sharing those awesome photos!
