Is 7d2 Game Changing? Does it get 10 fps?

good luck getting pro support for those old Minolta lenses any time soon, no one would seriously consider that for professional work.
Their best AF system which augments the normal phase detection AF with the few AF points that they have scrounged up on the main sensor doesn't even support those legacy lenses. So they are not only discontinued, they are without available spare parts and not fully supported by new cameras...

I only proved that you're wrong.
You only proved that the Sony system is woefully inadequate for any working professional or even avid amatuer who needs to be able to rely on his gear.
Sony has a 300/2.8 and a 500/4 .. and a prosumer 70-400G .. and that's it.
And all the Minolta lenses that you can use as well. The second hand market has been always an option.
Nope. Not true anymore since Sony decided not to support the legacy lenses fully with their on sensor PD - which is desperately needed to augment the 2nd class PD AF Sony has built into their SLT...

Taking into account than Sony do not need to release the same lenses with IS when they don't have it, or updated IS versions of the same lenses, it's normal they release less.
Short changing the users - because with those long focal lengths the in body IS is not up to scratch. The AF doesn't get a stabilized image and thus the system fails a lot quicker than on lenses with lens based image stabilization.

Some times you'll be catching them in midflight when moving, other times when either sitting or hovering. Either way, it's simply impossible to switch the camera rapidly from Servo to One Shot mode quickly enough, and it becomes necessary to use Servo for everything.
Actually, it's possible with the 7DMk2, just the push a single button to switch from one to the other: See Rudy Winston on Canon, the last video on customization:

only in your own mind. no one takes used and unsupported 20 year old lenses as a credible option to a system. the Minolta G 600mm 4.0 was released in 1988.

only sony users ever consider old obsolete lenses as "part of a system". ever wonder why?

which are what 10-20 years old now? no support? no service. no pro support? good luck finding replacement elements or electronics.

then consider that Minolta never really sold that well, and the fact that the used market simply isnt' anywhere the same size of breadth as the canon or Nikon markets.

there's what .. 3 600mm for sale on ebay?

just as comparison .. there's 66 canon 600mm L's of all three generations and 45 Nikon 600mm's.

so it may be a desperation option, but it's not even a good one.

So if you buy an expensive Canon lens today and tomorrow is discontinued you must trash it and expend 10k+ again for other new lens to get support?
canon will service it still - does sony still support and service old minolta lenses?

so again - lacking lenses unless you grub out something from the used market, which is puny to start off with - and sony wonders why they are never taken seriously.

Even if we count old Minolta lenses, Canon still has the wider selection.
They decided to re-brand only long lenses with SSM motors,
Wait...you're listing super telephoto lenses without sonic focusing motors? Seriously? Do they have any AF motors or are they driven from a camera body screw drive motor?

I'll accept slow AF on something like an UWA, but I wouldn't touch a telephoto without in-lens, sonic AF. As far as I'm concerned you just discounted the old Minolta lenses you listed. What good is the A77mkII's AF if it's driving a dog slow lens?
the 70-200/2.8 and the 300/2.8, with one exception, the 500/8.0 Reflex AF, maybe because Canon, nor Nikon has anything like this. You can get one, under the Minolta brand for about 350€
That's because nobody seriously shoots a reflex lens.

so it may be a desperation option, but it's not even a good one.
Just added emphasis on the one word that would characterize the Sony system options for long telephoto lenses...

Not even Sigma takes them serious anymore, the new 150-600mm Sports lens will not be released in Alpha mount IIRC...

Sigma is whipping Canon's butt with these new lens, aren't they.
Even if they were (which they aren't) - the fact they don't even release the better lenses is a tell tale sign of a dead donkey of a system... So in their eyes the Alpha mount had it...

their ART line is certainly nice. but some of their newer lenses are head scratches - like the 24-105/4 - huge and heavy against an almost similar optical quality 24-105/4 from canon or Nikon.

Sigma is into maximizing their sales and with the millions of low end rebels sold only make business sense.
You won't find many that will put the high end Sigma lenses on a low end rebel - but there won't even be a lens to put on the high end Sony because the forecast sales were so low that it didn't even make business sense to slap on an existing mount adaptor onto a finished lens and to program/manufacture the lens CPU accordingly...

Being an expert on all things doing with photography, I am sure that you are aware that Sony is the largest stockholder of Tamron (do you think that could have something to do with Sigma's decisions?)
not at all - why would it? even tamron doesn't make all their lenses for Sony A mount that it does the EF and F mount.

not even Sony makes new lenses for the A mount. how many full frame lenses released lately?

2014 - 1

2013 - 3 (1 DX)

2012 - 1 (2 DX)

2011 - 1

2010 - 2 (1 DX)

2009 - 1 (4 DX)

how many of those are just re-badges to say they are new (updated af, add a few coatings, etc and jack the price up a bit)

that's pretty sad considering sony wants to be at least a major player.

Canon's optical R&D labs and Fluorite plant were damaged by earthquake and radiation and they still made more new lenses.
