Insta360 Studio for One X is pretty useless

I concur. Without a PC app the phone is __. I will let you choose the an appropriate rhyme. There is too much complexity for a phone to handle. Too many chances for slip ups by touch. Rylo offers far fewer options and their software is excellent. They are coming out with a desktop editor shortly. I would not even consider Inst 360 One X without a reliable editor. If they had an editor that can handle the job (PC), I would have bought one long ago. So, I will wait until they get off their buts and start writing some good code and less Fancy Dan.

What phones are you using?

When you say incompatible, what exactly is happening? Do you get a message saying it's incompatible or something?

Meanwhile, there are several video editors that can edit 360 videos. And i will share another one soon.

Well, still waiting for desktop software update.

editing only on mobile at lower res.

its a shame, as it is a very nice camera.

yes!!! i saw a video on youtube where someone was editing actually tyhe video but that was for insta360 ! ... when i tried to do the same for insta360 ONE X i was speechless, nothing can be done .. so editing right now it's still ONLY on mobile.. !!!!!!!!!

i've read that in the next days a new version will be released, let's hope !

Yes, they really screwed up!! I wonder how much revenue they are missing by not having a decent PC editor? I am still waiting.

Please believe me and please be patient. It's very very soon, although it's possible it got pushed back to fix some bugs i found.

This is messed up,

i got the 360 one x to do a review video on it. Now I captured a lot of things, saved the insv files on my Mac, left home without my cam, and wanted to edit the video this week.

Well, obviously I can't get my shots done on my mac, 360 studio for the one x isn't working, and the one x software is doesn't let me export any usable footage. Airdropping the files to my iPhone and editing them from there with the app, doesn't work as well, because I need to connect the 360 one x to my phone first.

What the hell. Now how am I supposed to do a video at all?!

Congrats on getting the one x!

Sure you can

Yes it works. Just right click on one or more files, and choose start export, or go to file... batch export. The result will be stitched equirectangular 360 video files, the standard format for 360 videos.
Alternatively, if you have premiere cc 2018 or cc 2019, you don't even need to stitch the photos and videos. Just open them directly in Premiere, in insp or insv format!

Well things are looking better with the new software finally released. A few close downs but its workable.

Yes, it exports a 360 video which is fine. But I would like to export a regular video with the points of view I keyframed. Is this possible with this software?

Congrats on getting the one x!

I guess I am a little retarded. I did not see the part where you specifically export the keyframed video into a normal non 360 video. Can you point me to the mm:ss of the video please ? thanks !

After you add keyframes, go to file... export. Or click on the yellow button on the upper right corner. It will save the video as 1080p by default.

thanks, it worked.

I think I figured out another problem with the software after a lot of tries and support mails:

When working with .dng files very often the two lenses need different exposure and color settings. For this you first have to develop the dng file and stitch the developed circles image after.

But Instastudio will not stitch a non-camera image. I tried everything and in the end it seems that there are two non standard Exif tags in camera images which no program can read, copy or write or even delete, even exiftools fails completely:
Devicesettingsdescription and Makernoteunknowntext

Both tags contain binary data. This seems to works like a dongle, no edited circle image (PSD od Lightroom output) contains this tags and Instastudio just does not stitch this images. I suppose these tags are the reason becouse exiftool can copy and handle all other tags, without success in the end. These tags are unique for camera files.

This must be intended by Instastudio. So for serious work plan to buy a PTGUI Licence for photo work with Insta360 One X, no professional workflow possible with RAW images an Instastudio.
