Importing in Aperture and Renaming Query

Sorry for all the questions tonight, can you tell im new to Aperture.

I have about 8 memory cards that I want to download to one new project folder. Is there a way to make the numbering run in sequence for each new batch of photos I want to install?

I thought I had it, inserted the first card, imported the 125 photos, got new names 1 - 125 but then when I imported the second lot of photos from memory card 2 it started at 1 again. Is there a sequence so that it continues from 125?

The Custom Name with Counter option should do exactly what you want; it picks up the numbering of files with each import at the next-incremented number.
