I saw you post back whenever, but the information was sooooo depressing that I chose not to believe it.Nobody ever listens to me.....
Spoke to a really nice lady in London who has told me there is NO
plans for a professional body to be released. I’ve been told that
there is a new E system body nearing release but NOTHING as
professional as the current E1.
...is not in the acquisition, but in the anticipation. Acquire your object of desire and then you will merely crave the next great thing. Once again the bliss of anticipation begins.I wish Olympus would unleash their E1 replacement. The suspense is killing me!
The next 4 months are going to be rough!
True but silver unpainted E500 pics leaked, even if they did look like they were shot with a mobile phone (or a Kodak CX series ;-)1. Olympus corporate security must be amazing.
the CCD is my guess - maybe they're waiting on Panasonic?2. It seems painfully obvious from that an E-1 replacement has
been delayed because of problems with a supplier (or suppliers) of
important components.
Totally with you there - OK, there are loonies about who don't care a jot (like myself) who just want a fast, waterproof, less noisy E20-a-like anyway but they needed to get that biggie in there while the canon 5D was inbetween announcment and launch - Nikon are doing the same waiting game with the D100 replacement (a camera which needed replacing when the D70 came out) ..3. To me it seems an unbelievably bad marketing decision by
Olympus to have failed to release an upgraded "E-1n" during 2005.
i beg to differ here, and we choose not to listen? (me included)1. Olympus corporate security must be amazing. Considering all of
the people out here in the world who are just dying to find out
"what and when" it is to me simply incredible how few substantive
leaks there are.
nahhhh..... just diverted the 'A' design team to the E500 - to build the money maker?2. It seems painfully obvious from that an E-1 replacement has

important components.
I think they are only keeping the sensor options open - no 'trouble' at all.Although I am far from an expert on these
things, I have read enough to understand the difficulty involved in
getting more pixels on a 4/3 size sensor while at the same time
doing something about noise.
here i strongly disagree - I think soooooo many E1 owners are looking for a minimum of a doubling of pixels... The E1n was rumoured at the same 8mp sensor as the E-300/E-500.. and i read of quite a few E-1 owners also having one of these beasts... Oly are right to have a marketing strategy based on volume sales.. imho only3. To me it seems an unbelievably bad marketing decision by
Olympus to have failed to release an upgraded "E-1n" during 2005.
They have completely failed to pursuade me that it would have been
too difficult to put an 8.0 MP sensor in the E-1 and fix a handful
of things from the original. If rumors of such a model had
surfaced at the end of 2004 and if it had come out this summer, I
suspect that there would be very few people ditching Oly for
"greener pastures."
If they are going to release a new model in a few months then it would be silly to spend their money retooling to make a stop-gap. If they did release a "E-1N" it would be very worried that the next model was at least a year off. While this still might be the case, I feel a little reassured that Oly hasn't touched the E-1.3. To me it seems an unbelievably bad marketing decision by
Olympus to have failed to release an upgraded "E-1n" during 2005.
