Right now I use Qimage for interpolating and it's great. Easy once you get a little used to it and the best printing program also. I use it more than photoshop 6.1 and don't don't think I need ver PS 7.

What is Hyper Utilities?

Adrian
Hi Adrian,

Hyper utilities is the name of the extra bundle of software that includes RAW EX convertor (LE convertor is included in all packages) and camera shooting software (only included in the US and maybe Canada) and sold separately in other countries.

I have to agree with M here on QImage - in the main you get the best colours and exposure/contrast control, rarely having to play with conversion parameters. At a recent photo shoot in difficult lighting I was playing with exposure and fill flash levels and initially produced a few very underexposed shots before getting what I wanted. When I converted all the images later with QImage, all the shots looked great and I had to go back to the thumbnails included with the raw files to find which ones had actually been underexposed. This shows the great lattitude you have with the 12 bit data of the raw files and how QImage makes use of it.

I have a USA camera, but did not get the Hyper-Utility software. My manual says that the shooting software is optional ( page 100).

I've done a google search and searched to the fuji site and cannot find this software. Do you have any idea where I could get it and how much it costs?

You best check back with whom ever you purchased from. As far as I know it is included in ALL us boxes. Check the box for a label (sticker) as it should state that the full software is included.

Is it possible you got a Grey market camera? The Hyper Util software is about $200US I believe.

If there is no Hyper Utility in the box, you may #1 have been ripped off and #2 It could be a Canadian camera or grey market. The Canadian cameras have the same US warranty papers inside but they also contain instuctions in French.

adrian i spoke to fuji USA and they told me that the "hyper utilities" i.e.

the extra software and full raw converter and camera shooting control software that is extra overseas are included in the USA warrentied models

sold by fuji usa .its possible that where you bought the camera sold you the grey market version that means it was intended for sale overseas

another item that is included in the USA version is the ac adapter (normaly a $ 250 something dollar item)that may not be included in overseas models but included in the USA

Hmm. It's not that bad over here yet. ;-) The A/C adaptor is available in Europe for under 30 euros (less than $30 US) including 16% sales tax (VAT).
