HOWTO: Downgrading MC-11 to 1.05 firmware

I´m, asking because I can´t use my Canon 50mm 1.4. The a7r2 doesn't´t react properly, I can´t release the shutter, f-number can´t be set, screen stay´s mostly black, viewing taken images doesn't´t work - screen is black...

???
16-35 f4 L, 24-105 f4 L and 85 f1.8 work very well, as does Sigma Art 35 1.4
Get Sigma Art 50 1.4 ;) or Sony Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA ?

I'm pleased with MC-11 1.10 for both Sigma and Canon lenses.
Reverse from 1.10 doesn't work (yet).

Me too happy with 1.10.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only firmware versions that had problems with Canon lenses were v1.06 and v1.07. I upgraded my MC-11 from 1.05 to 1.08 and all my lenses worked fine. Same for v1.09 and v.1.10. So, if anybody is on v1.06 or v1.07 and can't downgrade to v1.05 for whatever reason, feel no fear on upgrading to current 1.10 version.

Thanks for the link, but it seems that my Canon 50 1.4 isn´t within that particular range of affected lenses.

It´s more that the camera doesn't recognize the lens at all, sometimes it freezes for a couple of minutes, or it keeps the f-stop closed to minimum, I can´t release the shutter and/or the screen stays black (somehow illuminated though), even the replay last images function doesn't´t react - screen stays black.

It takes a while to wake up or shut down when switched on or off.

It worked properly shortly in between but after switching off and on again, it remains operating like explained.

No other of my sigma or canon lens shows this strange behavior, even a quite old sigma 70-200 2.8 without oss with or without 1.4 extender works nicely.

Unfortunately sigma art 50 or sonar 55 1.8 is no option right now. But I know these lenses are stellar compared to the old canon 50 1.4

Just came back from my Dealer - we tested another Canon 50mm1.4 which worked perfectly. So apparently my own lens has some sort of defect.
It´s now going to be sent out for repair.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestions.

Dirty contacts?

Maybe try cleaning them before sending the lens away.

Already checked that, also the lens works normally on my 5d mk3.

Another 50 1.4 at my local store worked fine on my mc11 with 1.10.

Don't know what happened to the lens but I'm having an insurance for my gear anyway. So no big deal in this case.

It just felt very strage buying something new and finding it not working properly. Was quite annoying, but now I know it's neither the camera or the adapter. Going to holidays in a couple of days and taking only zooms, so when I 'll be back home the repair should be done.

Thanks guys for all your advice!

Hi there!!!

I saw this post for rolling back the firmware of sigma mc11 adapter and wondered if it is possible to downgrade my sigma 120-300 2.8 sport to firmware 1.02. The reason to do it is because I upgraded to the latest version and now my older sigma TC 2x is not working anymore. I live in brazil and there is no way I can send my lens to sigma.

Anyway thanks so much for the time!

Best regards,

Rod

Hi everybody,

as soon as i buy the MC-11 i've updated to the latest firmware 1.11. I use it with A7S with Canon 24-105 F4 L . I've seen a lot of videos in wich this lens work good. In my case, the MC-11 led is off, and the autofocus not working good. There is a way to solve ? I know it is for Sigma only..... but i see a lot of people with 1.05 that use it without problems with a lot of Canon lens.

Thanks in advance!

hi i am from uk and tried to use this today with no luck is it no longer online as i really need this fix to get rid of the delay between trigger and actual shooting.

please help

It is offline, because this procedure does not work for downgrades from latest MC-11 firmwares. To downgrade from newer FW versions, I have to investigate and figure out how. But I don't have MC-11 anymore, so no luck here.

HI antst,

I just bought an MC-11 and it has 1.06 on it, I am wondering if you could setup a server for those of us who have a compatible version where we can roll back to 1.05?

Much appreciated.

Hi antst!

I'd also really appreciate it if you can get this proxy running easily again... I have an mc-11 with 1.06 and it works like rubbish with my canon lenses!! Hoping 1.05 will fix it.

Cheers!

Jon

OK, I will setup proxy for those who still want to roll back to 1.05.

But why? I got impression that newer version fixed what was degraded in 1.06.

AFAIK there is no easy way to fix (if any at all ??) older versions of the FW in the second-hand purchases. And not everyone buys them brand new :D

so you're rendering a completely unique service to the mankind !!

Many thanks to antst.

Nevertheless the current Sigma firmware works like a charme.

And it can be adopted via adapter itself.

Therefore no difference between new or second hand stuff.
do you happen to remember what was the I-st version of FW which did offer a good to a very good level of AF-ing etc. when coupled with the Canon's EF/EF-s glass?

Because my (very faulty today) memory whispers that till about FW ver. 1.08 it was much better to revert to the FW 1.05 (independently whether it was bough brand new or II-nd hand) in this respect :)
