How well does CS3 support ops on 16-bit images?

I have been using Elements 4 for Mac and it forces me to do a 16-> 8 bit conversion before I can do anything useful with the image.

Will CS3 allow pretty much the full range of processing options on a 16-bit image (imported from RAW) ?

If so, Adobe will get my money straight away.

CS3 is better than CS2 in that regard, and I process all of my photos in 16 bit until the very end. You have more 16 bit filter options in CS3, as well.

I've only worked with Elements up until now.

Yep, as does CS2.

CS3 also has increased 32 bit support.

Cloning, layers, and many other functions work fine. I'm not sure how many 16bit functions have been added compared to CS2 however.
