I am trying to download a trial of OnOne and Norton keeps deleting the file and won't let me install it because it thinks it is a threat with a virus so how do I temporarily disable Norton until I get the software installed?

I have Windows 7 and use Norton Security.

Thank you.

Or alternately uninstall it. Hasn't been relevant since 1998..
What do you mean? What happened in 1998 to make it no longer relevant?

I don't know what happened Mark but not many people use it anymore. I remember the 90s when Norton was widely considered the very best PC protection but quickly, many free antivirus programs worked their way onto the scene. MS Security Essentials, Avast. Avira, AVG, Panda, Bit Defender to name a few as well as many free/paid programs such as NOD32, McAfee, Kaspersky, Webroot, F-Secure, etc etc.. They kind of fell quite a bit as most of the younger techies and PC builders switched away from Norton.

Norton is an evil antivirus program. Get the Norton Removal Tool , run it once, reboot, and run it a second time. Maybe better yet, use Revo Uninstaller . That will sniff out registry keys and other stuff that Norton leaves behind.

Then get a decent antivirus like Avast Free.

I've had this happen with some software and Norton. Many posts on Google search regarding issue. When this happens to me, usually clicking on the info popping up that it's being blocked leads to selections to add it to an exclusion list to be ignored.

Very new or very old programs can cause this with Norton.

Despite all of the criticisms of Norton in this thread instead of anyone answering your question,I like Norton because there is selection enter full screen mode that keeps Norton from interfering when you are working on photo programs.

Thank you all for helping me. I will now try a few of your ideas. I have been working alot and busy when not working so I appreciate all of you responding.

Much appreciated, as always.
