I have a 37mm circular polarizing filter (CPL) and also a sheet of linear polarizing film. Any ideas on how to use either of those items to make an easily attachable and detachable polarizing filter for the Lumix TZ60/ZS40? The camera is a point and shoot compact superzoom. Its built-in lens does not have threads for filters ...

Using tape to hold the filter in pace is a bit too crude. I had an idea about using magnetic strips or magnetic tape to temporarily attach the filter to the front of the lens, but I worry that the magnetic fields would somehow affect the operation of the camera.

This might help, or at least give you some ideas.

Magfilter - it appears to have a 37mm diameter ring which adheres to the lens, and then has a magnetic structure which holds a (52mm) filter. Several versions mount different diameter lenses (49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm). Buy whatever matches your existing lenses or what you can buy most easily. I'd stay on the smaller size if possible, to minimize weight on the extended lens.

Keep in mind that you want to be able to rotate the polarizer as needed, so better to use a commercial lens which includes the rotation feature than taping sheets over the lens.
