How safe to use third-party color profiles in-camera?

Hello,

I got M200, and I wanted to try something different in terms of color with my camera — so I found this .pf2 color profiles (in the old DPReview thread):

Thing is, I want to try some fuji-style film profiles with my JPGs, but I'm fairly new to all of that — is there any risks if I will download color profiles like this into my camera?

In DPP4 some of them look really interesting, almost how I tune my photos in the Lightroom, that's why I was thinking about installing the profile into the camera and just shoot JPG, but I'm kinda worried, can they broke something or void my warranty for the camera?

Thank you in advance for the answers.

Do not worry, nothing will break. Best approach would probably be to use Canons own "Picture Style Editor" to load the profiles and then install them on your camera with "EOS Utility".
Thank you.

But somehow PSE didn't open "olympus"-related profiles, that opens nicely in DPP4.

So I'm trying to recreate them in PSE right now >.<

My wife really liked Olympus punchy colors, so I need a similar profile to shoot in JPG for her :)

Sorry to hear that.

Some of the profiles are protected by the author. They can be applied but not edited. That is why you can not open them in PSE but use them in DPP.

Have you tried to load them directly on the camera without editing?

Thank you, I didn't know about profile protection. I'll try to load profiles directly!

Bumping this.

Possibly stupid question. But you can't get a virus from a .pf2/3 right?

I wanna try technicolors cinestyle profile but the company was bought out and it wasn't possible to locate the file directly from their website anymore. Google search pulls it up though.

Highly unlikely given how few people would be downloading this file. Either way, your virus software should have no trouble scanning this file.

If you want something similar right from Canon, try the "Canon Video Camera X" profile.

Thanks I'll give the Camera X a spin.
