has to be the USB compact flash card reader. These can be had for under $100 and provide transfer speeds that make you think you're working with a hard disk drive rather then a serial port connection. these should plug right into the USB port on your mac. It's also handy to move pictures to PC equipped with USB ports. Please bear in mind there are close to 100,000 coolpix cameras in circulation and what you will typically see on a support site are the folks having trouble..the rest are out there taking pictures.

Interesting. Close to can mean on either side of the target number. Since some 950's have serial numbers in NTSC of 3xxxxx and some have the 5xxxxx series (providing the Canada observation wasn't a UFN) and adding in the PAL versions with a ? serial number series...

It could be NTech was only talking about the US market, too...

Okay. Who out there has the biggest serial number? Bragging rights while you lead. Don't post the whole thing, within a thousand should be okay.

I have two: 306xxx and 344xxx. Chime in.

Bear in mind the Nikon guy just said Coolpixes. This would probably
mean ALL their digital models (although I reckon the 950 will be the
most numerous, followed by the 900.)

Mine's a european model, 414xxx (bought in early July)

I'm gonna continue saving for a D1 or 330 or 620, but I'm growing tired of not having a digital at all. Your post is the first I've heard about a new memory door. If I break down and buy one to enjoy some photography with, how can I tell if it has this new memory door or not? The old one from what I've read sucked!
