How many do the Back Button Focus thing?

According to Canon online support, there is no way to get back-button focusing with the SL1. How do you do it?
Custom Function 6 - change to 1 to put focusing on the * (ae lock) button and take it off the shutter. Shutter will AE lock instead
Thank you! It really works… Now why was Canon support not able to tell me that (rhetorical question not necessarily calling for reply)?
I think you are hallucinating. Canon support said there is no way. Canon Support knows all. You must be mistaken! How dare you question the high priests of the support team!

Since setting it to BBF 2 weeks ago I haven't changed it - I'm not going back. And I no longer need/want to change from AI SERVO. Brandon's "Tack Sharp" ebook explained it all.

(I move to Single Shot only when I need the flash grid)

does anyone use BBF with LiveView (my camera is 100D/SL1)? Is it possible to have AI Servo in LiveView (with BBF)? I mean I would like to have this: press * button and hold it to keep AF on moving subject in LiveView mode.

After years of using only the shutter button, I started to use the back button to focus. Now, it's all I use for focus.

Live view doesn't have servo :( There's the "continuous focus" option which will keep trying to stay near focus on the selected point, but it will still wobble in the final focus when you hit the shutter.
