How is brushing on filters in Pixelmator Pro?

I really can't deal anymore with the terrible brushes in Affinity Photo, especially as they relate to brushing on filter touch ups, although AP is often enough what I end up using for other advantages. Can anyone who has tried the latest Apple release of Pixelmator Pro offer an opinion on how it is for brushing on filters? The biggest problem with AP is that it doesn't respond in a sensible way to shadows/mids/highlights settings, and the filters themselves (saturation, blur) are crude when applied with brushes. It's really night and day compared with tweaking in PS. So I'm intrigued by this new release. I'd be very happy to throw $50 at Apple and not be as frustrated when touching up.
