How I came to own a K20D

Always interesting to read about someone who made a choice based on what they actually needed for their particular style of photography. I bought a K20D after using most of the other brands. There are plus and minus points for all of them and what makes a good choice for one person does'nt make a good choice for another - that's what bugs me about some reviews. The differences in quality are often paper thin and down to the skill of the photographer and quality of the lenses more than the camera itself. Enjoy your purchase - I know i'm enjoying mine! The only problem i now have is the uncontrollable urge to add another DA* lens.

Hi!

Your story was a delightful thing to read. Thanks!

I ordered K20D yesterday. Price has dropped significantly here in Europe and I decided to "upgrade" and also purchased DA*300mm ;-)

I have used Pentax since 70's and my first digital was *istD which is still a good performer. I like it because of it's small size still.

What I mostly expect from K20D is improved resolution with high performance glass. I'm not an artistic photographer more as a documenter.

Hi pentaxists !

And thank you Mell for this choice experience.

For me, the ergonomy is also a striking advantage of this model versus concurrence.

As stated in somme review : "the K20D has been created by photographers !", not only marketers !

Rounding out my purchase was a Transcend 16GB Class 6 SDHC card and
reader. I have read good and bad about the brand, but I have also
read good and bad about some of the major brands as well. To date,
mine has operated glitch-free, and that’s all I can ask. I see that
SanDisk has just today announced an equivalent card, priced at $180.
Yikes! That is more than three times what I paid for the Transcend
and its USB reader.
Transcend ARE a top brand IMHO.

It's really impressive how many people who "want a DSLR" get a Canon or Nikon. and it's impressive how many people who research their needs, desires, and cost-benefits of various brands end up with Pentax.

I almost went with Sony too, because the cameras ARE less expensive, but after handling them it was a no-brainer for me.

I never regretted getting my Pentax, and now I have already made two converts.

Someone took the time to post images. Why not take the time to comment?

The non-ISO compatible hotshoe is the sole reason I did not switch to Minolta during the film days when the Maxxum 7 came out. It was an attractive 35mm camera otherwise...

Unfortunately for new customers (or fortunately for existing Minolta users), Sony did not change it when it inherited the company.

Some notes:

1. Pentax Remote Control F: I have it as well. It is too small so
most of the time lives in the vertical camera grip. I bought this
for everyday use:

I don't think you can go wrong with less than $4, including shipping.
It works with my C*non too.

Out of curosity, do you think it will work for the K200D also?
