How do YOU hold your camera????

How do you shoot a rifle with it on your left should and sight with your right eye ????

TheFaithman
I'm left handed, right eyed, pitch left, bat right, kick right
(soccer), golf right and shoot a rifle with it on my left shoulder
but sight with my right eye. Like I said I'm a mess, someone
please put me out of my misery. :-)

Cheers

By leanining right over the stock. I'm told it looks very awkward and dangerous to boot. With a bolt action rifle the bolt, if it ever let go would hit me just about right in the right eye.

This is the reason I no longer own any fire arms.

I use the EVF. I have to take my glasses off to do it so sometimes I'm not sure if it's in focus or not. I know there is the adjustment you can make on the EVF, but I can't tell if IT'S right or not either. But, since I can't get the manual focus to work correctly, (it's human error, there's nothing wrong with the camera) I just let the camera focus for me. I only use the LCD when I want to get closer but am unable to bend that way.

I'm right-handed, but left-eyed so I'm always wiping off the LCD. I have an eyecup that I use when it's sunny out so I can actually SEE the EVF and still have my left hand free to rotate the polarizer (If I could find Erin, I could send her the $4 I owe her for it). I usually put my left hand under the body of the camera with my fingers extending out under the lens for stability (Thank god for IS).

When I shoot portrait, I turn the camera on it's side with my right hand up in the air (CCW). My sister has a hard time with this. She uses a film SLR and turns hers the other way so she can use her left hand to focus or zoom. When she uses my camera, the images are all facing the WRONG WAY!!

If I'm doing it wrong, TOO BAD! I'm comfortable and my pictures turn out fine. :-)

Adjust the diopter until the text is in focus. If you can't get it in focus, try contacts! ;-)

This drives me bonkers everytime I see this too. I hold my camera the traditional way , cradleing the lens barrel under my left hand, while holding the hand grip with my right, and bracing my arms against my body while framing through the viewfinder. I think that alot of the newer point and shoot digital designs encourage improper handholding, by making the LCD so much accurate for framing then the direct-view viewfinder. Concequently, most casual photographers never take the time to learn proper handholding techniques. That's one of the meny reasons I appreciate my UZI, it's design encourages me to hold it the correct way.
