How do I stop getting the app install nag?

(...) I haven't tried it yet but I will, since the problem is so intermittent I don't know how long it will take to know if it worked.

Interesting. In that thread no-one except the OP seemed to know about it. Maybe the Op there got the same pop-up.

Two other things I noted:
- there is no dpreview app in Google Play [was already mentioned for Apple
- the logo for Lofoten post shown earlier differs from the one there actual app shows [stylized L and stylized Lp repectively.
I can totally see the concern here. As others have said, there is no DPReview app. Fortunately, this looks like a case of the browser confusing DPReview's site with the possibility of downloading an app that doesn't exist.

Please ignore the message for now and see if it occurs in the future for any other sites.

Hi Mark,

I can understand why this would be confusing. DPReview does not have an app for either Android or iOS. What you are seeing is likely Chrome trying to be 'helpful' by offering to save a shortcut or bookmark for DPReview to your phone's home screen. This is not something we have any control over; it's a feature of Chrome.

While DPReview doesn't have an app, if you allow Chrome to save a shortcut to your home screen, it may give the appearance of being an app. I tested this on a Google Pixel phone, and when you tap the DPReview shortcut that gets created, Android opens DPReview in its own window rather than a new tab in Chrome. However, it’s just the DPReview website presented in a separate window. (You can do the same on iOS using Safari.)

In summary, DPReview doesn't have an app, and we don't present any windows asking you to install one. The fact that Chrome uses the word 'install' is quite misleading in this context.
