Hello all.

I was wondering how folk use and judge their camera's LCD screen to evaluate their shots.

I realise that whatever you ultimately view your photos on has its own 'look', but do people mentally calibrate the camera's screen image ?

My X-M1 's screen default setting is always a little more saturated and contrasty than when viewed on my laptop and tablet. I find the brightness set at -1 slightly more consistent with my other viewing tools.

Anyone have a 490k screen and one of the higher resolution ones?

I'm guessing most people will get a feel for their camera's light and colour palette the more they shoot but I was just wondering whether Fuji camera screens have a particular profile.

Thanks.

I can use it to check composition, focus (zooming to pixel level), and exposure using the histogram or highlight peaking. Even with those, the images may come out different than what you expect once you view them on a properly calibrated monitor. For contrast and colour it cannot be trusted... especially if you are shooting in artificial or mixed lighting.

Your brain is an amazing computer and continually adjusts how you perceive an image as the surrounding light changes in brightness and colour. What I see in sunlight on the LCD is totally different from what I see indoors under incandescent light. There is no fix for that.

The best you can do is use the tools provided during playback and your own experience, that you will build up over time, to know if the image you took will be acceptable.
