Hello Everybody!! Maybe I can help!!!

So what is the reportable news about the F717 replacement hehehe
I am very new to this forum, I do read it daily..I am a SONY
electronics represenitive. I am still very new to photography and I
hope to gain lots of advise from you, as well as get to know you
and share information that I may have available. I want to stress
that I am not a Tech support rep, and will be the first to admit
that I do not have all the answers, however I will do my best to
answer what I can, If I dont know the answer I will do my best to
find it for you.. Believe me I can get as frustrated with SONY as
you guys can.. Again I want to thank all of you for doing such a
wonderful job on this forum, and value your advise greatly.. In
answer to the question when is the DSC-V1 going to be available?, I
can tell you probably around the 1st to second week of June, right
now our ETA is June 5th if not before, However this can always be
pushed back, such as the DSC-P10
Why you may ask is there a set back? I dont know the answer, This
is one of the more difficult parts of working for SONY because we
do not always have the answers from Corporate.

Hello, I guess in answer to your question, I just Like The 717 Better. From what I've seen the picture are better from F717 than the V1. It's hard to explain. Im so partial to the 717, You know the old saying, If it aint broke dont fix it.., Honestly, my opinion will differ from others alot, My advise would be wait till the V1 is available in stores then Hold both of them take a few shots, and see which one you like best

What does the Macro switch on the F717 do, technically? I think it changes some of the constants in the AF feedback loop, while another poster thinks it removes a limit on how far the internal elements of the lens can move to achieve close focus. Please visit the following thread, especially my posts and those following.

I'm a retired electronics engineer familiar with the design problems of systems such as auto focus, so don't feel you need to explain at the "consumer" level.

His brother read some of the unibomber's writings and recognized Kosonski's writing style. Well, applying a textual analysis to Sonyguy's writing, and comparing it to old posts of Jarrett, I notice that both Jarrett and Sonyguy write contractions without using an apostrophe. Coincidence? You decide.

Oh, crud.

I misread the subject line in your post. You did tell me all I needed to know, didn't you? Sorry about that. :-)

Sometimes I read too fast.

No, I've never been to the store there. To be honest with you, about the only time I'm ever on Madison is when we have friends who want to tour around.

And thanks to Sonyguy for digging, too.
Ulysses,

Sorry, I thought it was clear that it was on Mad. Ave taking the
block between 55 and 56th.

Don't you live close to NYC, I thought you would have been there
years ago.

Hmmm... that's hardly a unique characteristic these days. :)

Jarrett would not have held back as long as Sonyguy has. He would have lunched into trash talkin' by now ;-)

But I like your idea of "fingerprinting" Jarrett's style. Always a good idea to be on the watch :-)

Then here's another: While perusing some of Nancy1777's posts (Nanacy1777 is generally acknowleged to be an alias of Jarrett, the troll) I noticed that he uses the word "your" when he should be using the word "you're". If you look at sonyguy's syntax in a post in this thread, you will see the same error... still not convinced?

Hey Sonyguy,

You mentioned that you sometimes have opportunities to send customer feedback to Sony corporate...

Right now, the main concern that I have with Sony is the extreme high prices for Memory Stick Pro. The high prices of the Pro sticks is what is currently preventing me from purchasing a new Sony digital still camera.

When I purchase my next camera, I will be looking for at least a 1 gigabyte memory card. Right now, I am seriously considering Canon cameras because the amount of money that I would save from a single large capacity memory card (rather than getting a Sony Pro card) will cover most of the purchase price of a new Canon camera.

To make Sony "competitive" as far as I am concerned, would be for Sony to immediately drop the Memory Stick Prices by a minumum of 50% to put the pricing in line with Compact Flash memory card pricing.
Hello, In answer to your question Yes I am A Sony Electronics Rep,
I work in sales. As far as your list of options, I would like to
see these as well.
We do have meetings, every other month about feed back from
customers our own thoughts any new ideas on the table, or new
products comming out. Please understand that my voice doesnt carry
alot of weight with corporate. Im just a Sony electronics sales
rep. Again the reason I came to this forum is to learn more about
photography, and to get advise from you. I am saving to buy the
F717. I dont know the replacement for this camera, The frustrating
thing about working for SONY or at least as a sales rep, is that we
wont know until just before its release. Sound strange I know, but
its true. The reason I mentioned that Iwork for SONY is because, I
thought I may be able to help with some questions. I am not a tech
rep and again will be the first to admit I dont have all the
answers. But I will do what I can. But mainly here for the benifit
of photography. Im sorry if i caused any concern. SOny Corp
Manangement did not send me. Im on my own in here. And again I can
get just as frustrated with Sony as the next guy.

Hey John!!

Who is this Jarrett person you keep comparing me to? Language Arts class in high school was never my favorite subject. If it will make you feel better, I will try and be more carefull on my punctuation. I wish this site had a spell checker like other sites... Sorry to disapoint you John, I'm not this other person. Maybe your trying to hard to find something that isn't there.. I can understand you want to be carefull. I'm not here to make problems, justto get advise like the next guy.. and maybe try to help a few people. It's nice to meet you all the same!!!

Hows it going? I understand completely about the price of the memorysticks. I was glad to see the 128MB drop $20.00, I can't see the 1GB mem stick dropping in price anytime soon. but I will make the suggestion. I would like to own a 1 GB stick some day but not for $600.00

Hey, I heve seen phots that our engineers took with the V1, they were very nice, I have seen pictures from Japan that have not looked as good.

In my honest opinion, I truely believe the V1 will more closely resemble photos from the DSC-P10 more than the F717. Just my opinon!!

Hey Russell

In answer to your question Im not that familiar with the macros switch, Im sorry.. I am actually saving up to buy this very camera. I know what your your thinking, How can he work for SONY and not know the answer to this question.. I understood its functions as you did. For a more definate answer, you may want to call our tech support at 800-282-2848, When you call you'll here an automated attendent named Max answer, The best way to handle him is to ignore him, Dont answer or push any buttons, after 3 attempts he will give up and connect you to a tech rep.. I hope this will help you..

When reading forum posts, I find numerous mistakes like this from a variety of people (oddly enough, it's usually from people who have English as their native tongue). Some examples:

their vs. they're
your vs. your
its vs. it's
then vs. than
their vs. thier

or exotics like abrasions vs. aberrations.

So I don't think that any of the above are indicative of one particular poster.

Which of course doesn't mean that Sonyguy is not Jarrett. In fact, when his first post caught my eye, I couldn't quite shake the feeling that it was not a case of WYSIWYG...

Perhaps if he told us something that no one else on this forum could know. :)

Roy.
Then here's another: While perusing some of Nancy1777's posts
(Nanacy1777 is generally acknowleged to be an alias of Jarrett, the
troll) I noticed that he uses the word "your" when he should be
using the word "you're". If you look at sonyguy's syntax in a post
in this thread, you will see the same error... still not convinced?
