GRlll - The annoying ADJ button

I shoot in manual mode with flash and I'm so fed up with the ADJ left and right lever accidentally changing the shutter speed. I normally have the camera set to 1/500, F8, auto ISO and I regularly adjust my flash manually according to the amount of ambient light.

In manual mode, the ADJ lever changes the shutter speed, in shutter priority mode it changes the EV and in aperture priority it changes both EV and aperture. No matter how careful I am, the shutter speed quite frequently changes by itself. Once my settings are right, I prefer to shoot with a clear screen with no visible info, and I can toggle screens with and without info using the DISP button. I'm having to go back to using the screen with info just to check if the shutter speed has increased. I'll take a shot that I know should be exposed properly and if it's too dark, I'll look on the screen and the shutter speed will invariably say something like 1/2000 or higher when I had set it to 1/500!

Is there any way to disable the left and right lever function? I have a feeling I read somewhere that it can't be disabled? The ADJ press button function is not a problem, it's just the left and right movement. My thumb must be moving it and it's quite difficult to hold the camera without the thumb touching the ADJ button. The ADJ lever is really useful as it gives me quick access to when I do want to change to shutter speed but I'd be happy to sacrifice that if I could completely turn it off.

I can concur that I have more than once also changed setting on this control. Looking at the manual I thought I could see a way to disable it but will need to test this on my GR.

Thanks. Do let me know how you get on.

Agree, same here, really an issue

I had a look in the customise menu and the best it can do with the ADJ lever is put the shutter speed onto the front wheel and the aperture onto the ADJ lever. So that's not much good because then the aperture would keep accidentally changing. So I've left it as is. I'm going to see if a small piece of duct tape pressed across the width of the ADJ button will stop it moving left and right. I've disabled all the ADJ press button functions so that nothing will be activated from the tape pressing down. Worth a try!
