What does it do?

Would be great if anyone could post some pictures that show it, or the difference with it on and off if you have them

I could do some test shots, but it's dark and I'm tired here about my bedtime so apologies, may do so tomorrow anyhow I thought it would be cool to see other's response and / or photos also ;)

Cheers

Use an image you’ve already taken in RAW, and apply grain through raw conversion.

Playback > OK button > RAW conversion > grain effect > create.

Okay. I know how to do the in camera RAW conversion.

One question if you don't mind; however does that result in exact same image as a shot taken as a JPEG?

Cheers

Ok just tried it. Only difference is it seems to add noise artifacts when viewed at 100%\

At normal viewing I see no difference even using strong.

Am i missing something?

I think you're right.

I tried it when I got my X-T3, found it produced too even a grain for my tastes. Acros on the X-T3 has a grain that varies locally with image brightness, but is still too fine for my tastes. These are different, that is the general grain tool and Acros grain are separate things.

There are far better grain tools in aftermarket software such as Exposure X6. Also, film emulation software such as in the Nik collection offers many choices.

Control of the grain of Acros, and control functions in the general grain tool have both been improved in the X-Pro3 but that is not enough of an incentive to get me to scrap my X-T3.

It is also interesting to mention that at least once somebody unknowingly had the general grain tool turned on and they thought there was something terribly wrong with their camera.

That's a funny story at the end lol

Yeah I won't be using this. Much prefer silver effex pro 2
