This looks to be a scratch on a lens element. Please contact customer support for an exchange and so this unit can be torn down to find the root cause.

I think I'm agreeing with that, function of Lens/Sensor size combo. But so strange it "disappears" before returning.I doubt that it's a scratch on a lens element. I have often seen the same linear streak on photos from mobile phones. I wonder if the streak is an artefact caused by whatever comprises the aperture in these small sensor camera modules.
It's not a lens design issue. It appears to be a test escape. As stated, firmware won't fix it.
Its like iPhone 13's terrible flares, they don't seem to give a damn about it.
That sounds like the proper course of action to me. It sounds like an internal problem, as my 11 is not affected. I thought it might be an issue with the coating that repels water, but I guess its not. It's not a lens design issue. It appears to be a test escape. As stated, firmware won't fix it.

As GoPro's Director of Optical Systems, I can tell you that we care very much about it. That's why the correct course of action is to contact customer support and to send the camera back so my team can tear it down and find the cause of this issue,
I removed the lens cover in the post above labeled as such, and it still shows up.I'm sorry you are having this issue. It doesn't show up on my 11 Black. I don't know if this is correct or not, but apparently there is some sort of coating on the lens cover that allows water to run off leaving no drops. I wonder if the coating is not applied properly. Sorry, I guess I'm grasping at straws here. If you have additional replacement lenses such as ND filters. Swap for one of those and give that a try.
I am not seeing it either - and I am pointing at the sun a lot.I removed the lens cover in the post above labeled as such, and it still shows up.I'm sorry you are having this issue. I'm not sure of your exact test, but good to hear you don't see it.
I'm not pointing at the sun generally, so I'm not too concerned for this camera. I'll probably buy another one at some point in the next year, maybe that one will be better.
If I was to make my own post there, it would be the same type of response:
That's quite pronounced. I don't get that at all on my 11.
