Got some NX1 info.

what you say about APS-H is not true. you have no idea how popular APS-H was and is still is. for some reason, I do not have a clue why Canon discontinued it and made preference over FF or APS-C, it somehow got lost in the mix where to put it in price category. there is and still market for it.

the APS-H proposition is more towards keeping sensor space dimension of NX rather than create a new one.

actually, you have it in opposite. you do not get the worst but best of both worlds. you get much friendlier field of view, not too short (APS-C) and not too wide (FF) but also longer reach, nicer aspect ratio. picture quality rival FF, cost efficient, much manageable field depth (not too shallow and not too deep), much ideal for faster picture taking or action photography capability, avoid FF vignetting for FF lenses. and who said you cannot use crop factor mode capability with APS-C NX lenses on APS-H? crop mode is available in certain FF cameras.

APS-H is better than Samsung competing against medium range APS-C at same price category because of crowded market. FF market is also very competitive. either way, Samsung needs to come out with a product that would rival existing sensors if it want to make a statement that it is different. whether go Fuji way with Bayer filter arrangement, Sigma with sensor concept or have a different sensor size. Samsung can keep APS-C with other models like NX-xxx or NX-xxxxx. but we are talking about high-end or pro model. so why should it be another APS-C? they make sure that it should offer something that it totally different than what is offered by others. and I hope it is not just TIZEN because I have no use for it if what Samsung right now is proposing connectivity.

need to set facts first.

it makes me cringe everytime I read statements like rangefinder when it clearly cameras discussed are not really rangefinders. so let's drop that.

also, Samsung made statement of their long term plan for their cameras, so I not know where you got impression that they don't. that is not factual.

I do not agree that they don't have market share outside of Korea. they have but not as big as in Korea but that is due to obvious reason of Samsung popularity. from what I read, they have good shares in Asia and improving shares in Europe. North America though does not seem to fair good as opposed to competition but it is better than when they start in 2009.

point is , Samsung dilemma is more on perception and establishing base rather than problem with product. it is the same as Sigma. can we say Sigma does not have long term plan also and do not have market share? NO ! they have market share in camera but not as strong as others.

how to change that is combination of being different and revolutionary in high-end products and much aggressive promotion.

besides, nobody is forcing you to make choice. you can always buy something else if you don't like product. feeling of entrapment is to self only and not the products fault. I think you are better than a few who hates product but kept on coming back for nonsense reasoning. ironic.
And this is why I am sure you work for a company paid by Samsung.

I have never seen a Samsung Camera in the wild, I know two people who have owned a Samsung outside of these forums, one got rid of it, (NX300) and one still uses a NX30.

I know several people that use Fuji's and have become very happy with them.

Fuji is late to the game but are making in roads.

Outside of Korea Samsung is on par with Canon in the Mirrorless market... (that may have changed that was as of early 2013 ircc)

Samsung has never publicly released a roadmap, all information we have are from internal info given by people on this forum (threads that no long exist I believe). Samsung has never officially announced anything..

And you keep putting words in my mouth... I have no feeling of entrapment. I want to feel confident in the maker of the camera I used for the last 3/4 years. The system I learned photography on. I have that right... and you are right... I can buy something else.. which is why I said IF I loose confidence I would jump ship sell my Samsung gear and buy Fuji. A system I know others have, a system I know I can rent lens' for, a System produced by a company with a history in photography. Samsung in 2011 was the right choice. In 2014/2015... that may change, if they can't keep up, or go down a road that for me is not positive.

I've never said anyone else needs to. I have spoken only for my self... a customer.

As for rangefinder... rangefinder style means the EVF is on one side of the camera making the camera not ambidextrous. It is the reason I didn't go with a Sony NEX and still won't.

APS-H was in one Camera model. It has not been made by anyone in 2 years.

It was made because it offered certain advantages for Sport photography (smaller File size, faster processing faster FPS) Modern processing power, and Memory Cards can achieve the same performance with Full Frame. As such the need for APS-H is no longer there.

understood that aspect. but one has to consider what makes the APS-H click, the crop size factor, that is a part from the aperture advantage over APS-C and picture quality to rival FF. APS-H is 1/2 to 2/3 speed in picture quality behind FF as opposed to APS-C which is 2-3 steps lower. so why would APS-H be of no use.

with the way how FF is priced and midrange APS-C is priced now, NX can be extremely competitive if they put it against APS-C midrange pricing and cheaper than cheapest FF. it is possible since cost is cheaper with APS-H than FF and picture quality to rival it. key is picture quality difference with sensor size difference in my opinion as opposed to Samsung competing against APS-C and FF but no significant difference over competitors. Tizen connectivity is not really something that photographers are after. even toastmaker and blender would be more of use on camera than Tizen. if Samsung really want to compete with others with similar size sensor, they need to be different and better.

I did not say I'm oppose to APS-C or FF, but they need to be different. APS-H is just another option if they cannot be different with APS-C and FF, since APS-H is free right now and I'm sure would excite old 1D APS-H users.

I doubt they will overdo it in terms of size. Rather make the body heavier si that it is more balenced when mounted with a premium lens of 6-800g.

At least NX400 will have two versions and one with EVF!
