There seems to be an issue with topaz gigapixel 8.3 update. At least for me and a number of people on the topaz community site. The 8.3 update has created a situation where the program shuts down completely when an image is loaded . Drag and drop or navigate to image-It doesn't matter. I'm using win11 and easily meet the requirements. The only way to resolve this at present is to uninstall 8.3 completely and re install version 8.22 (available on the topaz site). A lot of smart people over the years warned me about updates to anything- You think I would listen? duh :-) - If this is old news- don't read it. :-D

I've had no problems with 8.3.0. I haven't exercised it much, but just opening files is OK.

Windows 11 24H2 (26100.3613).

8.3.1 is available. I doubt that it'll help with your issues.

I am reluctant to install the 8.3.1 update as the 8.2.2 version is working just fine. It is also an issue with some users of video ai update. I have e-mailed topaz about the issue as a number of other users have and will wait for a definite reassurance that this issue is resolved. No one is there on the weekend. Enough users have run into this so I am sure it will be resolved at some time if it has not been already. I'm just waiting for an e-mail.

I hope that there's a fix for you.

It's not a universal bug. I hope that it doesn't make it hard for Topaz to diagnose.

Do you know if it's okay when used as a plugin from PS CC? Thanks.

I should have mentioned I am using the stand alone so I have no idea. Reinstalled 8.2.2 which is working fine so I'm ok with that.

Topaz has released 8.3.2.

Bug fix that gets rid of a crash when loading a RAW.

I'm not sure whether it's connected with your issues, but it could be worth a try.

About an hour ago I installed the 8.3.2 update and it was not a fix. A jpeg -- drag and drop ---navigate to image and drag and drop on the topaz desktop shortcut. still no go. I had to uninstall the working 8.2.2 update to try the 8.32 . I assumed , like you, that this was a fix. A number of people on the topaz community site have been in communication with a topaz agent and they said they were aware and working on it-I'm not going to reinstall the working 8.2.2 again. It's getting to be a pita installing and uninstalling so many times now. I just won't use the program any more and shop for something else in the meantime. Hopefully they can come up with a fix before my license runs out an i will no longer be eligible for updates that don't fix the issue.

Sorry that it's not fixed.

8.3.0, 8.3.1, and 8.3.2 have all been OK for me.

Have you opened a ticket with TopazLabs and shared your logs?

No issues with 8.3.2 here running i9/4090/4080/4070 on latest win 11 build.

(I haven't tried JPEGS - have you tried other formats?)

There is an ongoing topaz community message board where users with this issue have been going back and forth with topaz people- submitting log files etc. They claim they are working n it as of this morning.

I think the idea is you send your issue to them via opening a ticket.

We beta test for them and that's the suggested path.

I've tried some JPEGs now and no issues.

I've also tried launching it from LrC, both RAW and JPEG with no issues.

We do keep our nVIDIA drives as up to date as possible - having read the forum I can't immediately spot a pattern but the posts are far from clear.

I suppose I will just wait it out at this point as I have already spent too much time looking for a bogeyman on my machine. The only obvious change i can think of has been a win security update a few days prior to installing 8.3. Attempting to figure this out is way above my pay grade. My 8.2.2 update works just fine for me. If topaz finds a fix I will post it in here for the curious .

I found it interesting that after a search for topaz gigapixelai problems, the results showed the same issue in 1/24 and 10/24 with installers that did not affect me at that time. Evidently this is nothing not seen before.

What does 1/24 and 10/24 mean?

Dates of previous updates -
Thank you.

Reading the forum and beta forum doesn't appear to show a conclusive pattern.

Logging your ticket and logs is the most helpful thing a user with problems can do, both for the developer and the user

The latest post from support appears to have identified the problem as a monitor color space problem. a fix should be within 48 hrs. That will be good.
